Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, in a 'radical reworking' by Jack Thorne, with Rhys Ifans, directed by Matthew Warchus, will open at the Old Vic Theatre on 29th November.

The new season at the Almeida Theatre in Islington will comprise the premieres of Mike Bartlett's Albion, examining British national identity and anxiety in the wake of the EU referendum, with Victoria Hamilton, directed by Rupert Goold, opening on 17th October; and Anne Washburn's The Twilight Zone, based on stories from the 1960s American psychological horror television series by Rod Serling, Charles Beaumont and Richard Matheson, directed by Richard Jones, opening on 12th December; plus Tennessee Williams's Summer And Smoke, set in Mississippi in 1916, the tale of the daughter of a minister whose youthful passion is rekindled by the return of a neighbour's prodigal son, with Patsy Ferran, directed by Rebecca Frecknall, opening on 7th March.

Self styled 'psychological illusionist' Derren Brown will bring his stage show Underground, a collection of highlights from his previous work, written and directed by Andrew O'Connor and Andy Nyman, which is currently touring, to the Playhouse Theatre from 11th September to 14th October.

The stage premiere of Jack Rosenthall's The Knowledge, adapted by Simon Block, charting the rigorous training process before someone can pass the examination to become a registered London Taxi driver, directed by Maureen Lipman, will open at the Charing Cross Theatre, in The Arches under Charing Cross Station, on 11th September.

Booking is now open for TheatreCraft, the free annual event where 16 to 25 year olds can discover all about non-performance career opportunities in theatre, taking place at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel on 3rd November. It provides an opportunity to explore the many skills involved in staging a production through workshops, talks and demonstrations; the opportunity to meet representatives from theatres, production companies, training institutions, unions and other professional bodies; and one-to-one advice sessions. The autumn season at Theatre503 in Battersea will include Philip Correia's Sid And Viv, a coming of age drama, directed by Jonny Kelly, from 30th August; Andrew Thompson's In Event Of Moone Disaster, a multi generational story of space exploration, directed by Lisa Spirling, from 4th October; the premiere of Abgela Betzien's The Dark Room, a psychological thriller, directed by Audrey Sheffield, from 8th November; and the return of The Sleeping Trees three man pantomime Scrooge And The Seven Dwarves, from 6th December.
