If you have ever wondered how a theatre works, a number of London theatres now offer backstage tours: Barbican Centre, Coliseum, Duke of York's, London Palladium, Prince Edward, Prince of Wales, National Theatre, New London, Royal Court, Royal Opera House, Sadlerís Wells, Shakespeare's Globe, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Theatre Royal Haymarket, and also the Royal Albert Hall and The Roundhouse.
These generally last about an hour and a quarter, and while some run at regular times throughout the day Monday to Saturday - excluding matinee afternoons, others run only once a week. Shakespeare's Globe and Theatre Royal Drury Lane tours also run on Sundays. Advance booking is recommended, as the size of group is restricted. Young children are not admitted.
These are working theatres and therefore access cannot be guaranteed to all areas of the buildings at all times.
